VISION

We believe that the inhabitants of Canyon de Chelly and Canyon del Muerto (“CANYON”) should have the opportunity to regain the full usage of the canyon. For many centuries before the arrival of the Europeans to North America, this was the case. The Tséyi’ Association (“ASSOCIATION”) as an incorporated organization, this can be accomplished. We believe in creating a positive change and commitment to the Tséyi’ni Navajo People (“NATIVES”), and to true ownership by canyon natives. We believe that taking control of our inherited natural resources and attractions of the canyon. We value the marketing of our heritage and canyon resources for tourists attraction to our communities of the “CANYON”. We also value the impact of tourist trade that benefits the Chinle Agency Chapters and Navajo Nation Tribal Government.

PHILOSOPHY

It is the philosophy of the Tséyi’ Association that the Navajo People have wisdom and creativity. We will teach about solutions for water irrigation with the current erosion. Learn about planting peaches, planting crops (corn, beans, squash, etc), work together to cultivate the land as our ancestors once did before the Long Walk of 1868. We will provide a viable and ethical marketing opportunities for our crafts and services of the “NATIVES”. We believe in creating an environmental encouragement to our younger artists to carry on their cultural traditions. We expect our organization to recognize and provide qualified leadership for the benefit of Navajo people of the “CANYON”. We believe in working as a association to assure open communication among our Navajo people.

Mission

It is the mission of the Tséyi’ Association as a community based organization to provide a governing body by the “NATIVES”. We will ensure the preservation, protection, and restoration of the “CANYON”, whereas, historical values, religious rights, and cultural significance for the Navajo people will be preserved.
